Weekends Away
Each term we provide an opportunity to meet together for a time of relaxation, refreshment from God’s word and encouragement from one another.
In the autumn term we have our annual church away day. Both all age and evening church get together at the Factory in Wimbledon. We invite an outside speaker to address a topic we don’t usually cover in the normal Sunday preaching programme. We’ll enjoy a magnificent and relaxed lunch together. The afternoon is usually spent on Wimbledon Common chatting, chasing kids and kicking a ball.
The Knowing God groups go away in the spring term to a venue outside of the capital. These relaxed weekends provide a chance to read the newspaper, recharge the batteries and remind ourselves what countryside looks like! After a couple of days we’re dying to get back to our urban context but we return better equipped to serve God in the city!
The year culminates with Revive in the summer term, the Co-Mission weekend away in Portsmouth. It’s hard to say what people enjoy most about this weekend; it could be the amazing kid’s programme, it could be the Saturday evening entertainments package or it could be the varied teaching programme of seminars and plenary sessions.
